Jazz Family Day, 11:30am-3pm at Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Renwick Gallery (800 G St NW). Come and jam at SAAM during Jazz Appreciation Month! SAAM celebrates jazz’s influence on artists with activities and performances. Improvise with your own jazz-themed crafts, complete a swinging scavenger hunt, and bop to jazz performances throughout the day. FREE

DC Jazz Jam’s “SaxMachines” w/ Bryan Entire, 6:30-9:30pm at Brixton (901 U St NW). Please come out this Sunday eve as sax-man (and long-time friend of the jam) Bryan McEntire returns to headline our house band, continuing our month of #SaxMachines! You can usually see Bryan jumping in to play a burning solo at every jam session, so we are pleased to have him actually leading the whole show this week. FREE

She is joined by George Mason University Jazz faculty Wade Beach (piano), Regan Brough (bass), Matt Niess (trombone), Shawn Purcell (guitar), Harold Summey (drums) and very special guests. Shows are 8pm and 10pm. $22
